Blurb

Now that Jesse has found a perfect partner in Grant, the new Dom in his life, he figures there’s just one thing that will make their relationship ideal. And her name is Stephanie. He’s not at all surprised when Grant’s on board with his plan. Now they just have to convince Stephanie to take a chance on them.

Stephanie has missed her friend Jesse since he hooked up with Grant and stopped coming to Apex. Of course, not seeing them around hasn’t stopped her fantasizing about being with the sexy-as-hell guys. When they finally come up for air and hit the club again, she’s thrilled to see them. Her crappy evening takes a definite turn for the better when they invite her out. And then they invite her into their relationship.

Once she gets over the shock, the temptation is too much to resist. But she has to be careful. She doesn’t want to risk the relationship between the guys, and she sure doesn’t want to risk her heart. Of course, she might not have much choice—not if Jesse and his Dom have anything to say about it.

Excerpt

The sights, sounds and smells of Apex were a familiar balm to Stephanie’s mood. The BDSM club was her home away from home and she loved coming—seeing old friends, meeting new ones. Occasionally she wanted more, wanted a full-time relationship, someone she could take home to meet her parents, someone she could fall asleep with at night, and wake up to in the morning. It would happen, she was sure. For now, she would play.

She’d been thinking about that more and more, lately. Ever since her friend Emma had gotten serious with her guy. She’d teased Emma about not wanting to go to the club, about becoming stale, but the happiness in her friend’s face and in her voice couldn’t be denied. And the brat had been very clear that she and her guy didn’t need a club to have all kinds of kinky fun.

Moving towards the small bar so she could grab a water and get a feel for the evenings activities, she tried to shake off her thoughts, put her mind in a more positive direction. She was here to play, not dwell on what she hadn’t yet found.

Someone stepped in close behind her, butting into her personal space. She turned her head to meet the man’s gaze as he settled a warm hand on her bare shoulder.

Trevor, a Dom who’d been coming to the club for a couple of months, raised his eyebrow at her.

“I believe we have a date.” He sounded sure of himself, calm and cool. They hadn’t actually set up a date, but they’d been eyeing each other for weeks, and last time they’d spied each other, they’d done a little dance of head motions that she was pretty sure had meant “next time”. At least, that’s what she’d meant and at the time, she’d been a little thrilled at the exchange. This…invitation, for want of a better word, didn’t exactly make her panties wet, but she was sure he could make it work for them, if she gave him a chance.

She lowered her gaze a bit and gave him a smile. “Yes, Sir.”

He was older than those she was usually drawn to, but she thought maybe that was part of what was attractive about him. Over the last few weeks she’d found his maturity, his commanding presence and self-confidence very sexy. He held himself like a man who knew what he wanted and knew he was going to get it. It pleased her to know that he’d decided he wanted her, that he’d been thinking about her.

“Name?”

The brusque question had her blinking, but she didn’t hesitate.

“Stephanie, Sir.”

“Limits sheet?”

She pulled the sheet she’d reexamined and re-approved at the front desk, as required, out of her back waistband, where she’d stashed it. He plucked it from her fingers. Lifting her head enough to catch his frown, she wasn’t quite sure what to make of the little harrumph he made under his breath. She didn’t have long to consider as he folded the paper precisely in half and said, “Come along.”

Turning on his heel, he marched to a whipping post and dropped the small duffel bag he’d been carrying.

Well. Okay then. Not exactly how negotiations usually went in her experience, but she’d wanted a man who knew what he wanted, right? He looked her up and down.

“Top off, you can leave the skirt on.”

She didn’t bother replying, just unzipped the purple faux bustier and put it into a nearby cubby. She wasn’t feeling super sexy at the moment, but she figured he’d get her heated up soon. Scenes she’d seen him involved in flashed through her memory. Definitely hot. She needed to be patient.

Grabbing her arm just above the elbow, he turned her roughly and put cuffs on her wrists. She swallowed back a comment and tried to think sexy thoughts as he linked the cuffs behind her back and attached them to the post. On a deep inhale, she forced her shoulders to relax. The guy knew what he was doing. So did she; it wasn’t like she was a beginner at this whole thing. She was in her favorite club, looking pretty damn hot, if she did say so herself, and about to get flogged, something that had brought her to climax when done correctly. Of course, the Dom who’d managed that had moved to Texas shortly after, damn it.

She flexed and tensed her muscles a bit, trying to get her blood flowing. Not something she normally needed to do. The flogger Trevor had pulled out looked like black suede. The fact that she’d seen him wield it to great effect before helped her relax. Until he whacked her breast with a not-at-allgentle thwap. She pulled in a sharp breath, her eyes actually watering a bit from the unexpected pain.

It wasn’t as though she hadn’t been expecting a flogging since he’d pulled the instrument from his bag. But she’d certainly expected some warmup. He swung again, this time the full brunt of the strands slapping across her belly. She bit her lip and tried to catch Trevor’s gaze, let him know she was not feeling this at all. Try to give him a clue. His unblinking stare was unsettling. He swung again and she unconsciously turned her body away from him, getting the hardest strike yet across the top of her breasts, one strand flying up to catch her chin.

That was it. She was done. “Red.”

He checked himself mid-swing and stared at her.

“Excuse me?”

“I’m sorry, but this isn’t working for me. We’re done here.”

“The hell we are, we were just getting started. You wanted this, you’re getting this.”

Her embarrassment at having to use her safe word transformed swiftly to anger, but she tried to be the bigger person. “Look, I’m sorry, I thought this was what I wanted, but apparently I’m not in the right mood. Just unhook me and we can go our separate ways.”

The anger she saw on his face dispelled any lingering sense of attraction she might have had for him and had her scanning the room for one of the monitors. Marcos, in his bright white Apex shirt, was immediately visible to her and she was pleased that he noticed her right off. Clearly realizing she wanted him, he started over, arriving in time to hear Trevor’s next words.

“You stupid little slut, you were begging for it. Begging for me. If you can’t handle a little pain, you need to be taught. Otherwise, you’re in the wrong place.”

“Trevor. Stephanie.” Marcos’ warm, calm voice kept her from answering the idiot Dom the way she wanted to. Well, that and the firm grip her teeth had on her lower lip.

“Is there a problem?” Marcos asked, moving to unhook her cuffs from the post while he spoke. She loved him for not waiting to take action.

“This ridiculous excuse for a sub is safe-wording after three lousy strikes.”

The monitor put his hand on her shoulder, checked her eyes. “Are you all right, darlin’?”

Taking a deep breath, she angled towards him so she could ignore the asshole in their midst. “I am now, thank you. This might be my fault, and for that, I’m sorry. I thought I was ready for a scene, but apparently I was wrong, at least for the kind of scene he wanted. But when I used my safe word, he got mean and rude.”

She felt movement at her back and whipped her head around. The two men who stood there brought a smile to her lips, even through her anger. Jesse, a friend she hadn’t seen in way too long, and Grant, the reason Jesse hadn’t been around the club. Seeing them now was a very welcome surprise. As Marcos began unbuckling one of the cuffs from her wrists, Jesse moved in to work on the other.

“This is unbelievable,” Trevor said, disgust clear in his voice. “You just let subs get away with teasing the Doms?”

“I’d be glad to have a conversation with you about that,” Marcos said. “As soon as I take care of Stephanie. You can wait here, without saying anything more, or I can find you over near the bar when I’m done here.”

Trevor shook his head as he put the cuffs into his bag. “This night is ruined. I’ll be leaving now.”

“Actually, if you want to come back to Apex, we need to have a talk,” Marcos said as Jesse helped Stephanie back into her top. “I’ll be with you in just a minute, over near the bar.”

He led Stephanie a few steps away, looking at her inquiringly when Grant and Jesse joined them. She shrugged to show she didn’t mind their presence, if he didn’t.

“Are you all right?” Grant asked. His unblinking stare didn’t bother her at all. She gave him a smile that wavered a bit. She wasn’t hurt, but she was more unsettled than she’d realized.

“I’m fine, thanks for coming to check on me.” She included Marcos and Jesse in her look. She held the bustier that Jesse handed her up to her chest and he worked the zipper in back. “I’d been looking forward to playing with him at some point, so it just really took me by surprise when he blew it so badly. I’ve never had anyone get mad at me for using a safe word before. I was stupid, should have talked to him more before starting.” She hadn’t noticed she was rubbing her arms until Jesse draped a blanket around her shoulders. “I think that’s it for me tonight, I’m going to go home.”

“You call yourself stupid again,” Grant said as his hands moved to secure the blanket more firmly around her shoulders. “And you’ll earn a punishment from me.”

“And me,” Marcos added, not trying to hide his grin.

She blinked at both of them.

“Um. Okay.”

“And you’re not going home until I know you’re good,” Marcos continued. “I don’t want you driving home and crashing suddenly.”

She gave him a wry smile. “I’m not driving. And I didn’t get anywhere near subspace, or anything good enough to risk a crash. Unfortunately.”

Marcos narrowed his eyes at her.

“We’ll take her out for dessert,” Jesse said before either of the Doms could speak.

Her eyebrows shot up. “Don’t you two have more exciting things to be doing together than taking me out? You haven’t been to the club in ages, that I’ve seen.” She pointed her chin at Jesse. “You should be tied to something.”

He grinned. “Oh, honey, I was. But that was a while ago, and now I need something sweet with my sweet guy and you, who we haven’t seen in forever. Come on, hot stuff, let’s get this girl somewhere all to ourselves.”

She managed to catch Grant and Marcos communicating in that nonverbal, masculine way that seemed especially inherent to Doms, before Jesse had her heading towards the front door. “Thank you, Marcos!” she called over her shoulder, careful not to look where Trevor should be, in case she couldn’t resist the urge to give him a smug look. Discretion being the better part of valor, and all that.

“I really am okay, guys.”

“Good, then you can catch us up on all the new gossip,” Jesse said, helping her exchange the blanket for her coat.

Somehow she found herself walking down the street sandwiched between the couple. Jesse had an arm around her waist and Grant had one around her shoulders. She should have felt smothered, but instead she felt safe and secure. She hadn’t had a chance to get to know Grant well, but she really had missed Jesse.

The truth was, she’d spent a bit more time watching their scenes than might be considered polite. Had definitely spent way too many nights thinking about those scenes. There was just something so compelling about watching them together. Worst of all, she’d actually maneuvered a young, newer Dom into ordering her to give him a blow job while she was able to watch Grant and Jesse play, so that she could fantasize about being a part of their action. She’d been topping from the bottom, without question, and had been ashamed of herself for it. From that point on, she’d tried to avoid watching them together, but they’d stopped coming to Apex anyway. She’d talked to Jesse a few times, met up with him for lunch once, to hear how in love he was. There was no denying the happiness she felt for her friend’s obvious exhilaration, but the break from seeing the two men together had probably been a good thing for her mental health.

“First you have to tell me where you’ve been and why you haven’t been coming to Apex,” she insisted as Grant angled them into a twenty-four hour diner. They moved to a four-top and Jesse slid in beside her, which gave her Grant as a view. It didn’t suck. He wore his brown hair short, but long enough that she wanted to ruffle through it with her fingers. His blue eyes had seemed more gray in the club, but now, in the fluorescent light of the restaurant they were bright and piercing.

“We’ve been around, just not at the club.”

“Oh crap, am I going to have to give the lecture about becoming old and stale again?” she asked as the waiter came by for their orders, offering a pot of coffee. She waved off coffee and ordered vanilla ice cream and fruit, Jesse asked for a brownie a la mode and Grant requested strawberry ice cream with chocolate sauce.

When the tiredlooking waiter had left, Grant lifted a brow at her. “Do you think fun can only be had at Apex?”

“Wellllll,” she drawled.

Jesse laughed and bumped her with his shoulder. “The club is about exploring yourself, trying new things, being around others like you, but for us it was mostly about trying new people. When you’re with someone already, you don’t need it.”

“Exactly,” Grant agreed. “Doesn’t mean it’s not fun to go once in a while, but you don’t need it. Or at least, we don’t. It’s nice to shake things up a bit, see people you miss.” He lifted his coffee to her, before bringing it to his lips.

She watched the action a bit more closely than she should. She’d been attracted to the man since the first time she’d seen him deliver a spanking that ended with him sucking the sub off to a howling orgasm. When he’d focused most of his attention on men, she’d been quietly envious. When he’d really focused his attention on her friend Jesse, she’d been thrilled for the other man.

Letting her head rest on Jesse’s shoulder, she gave their words some thought. She supposed it was true that while it was amazing to go to the club and meet others like her, see the lifestyle in action, experiment and play, meeting people she could play with was sort of the true goal.

“When I was with Tony, we kept coming to the club. Nearly a year,” she pointed out.

Jesse snorted before answering. “Tony liked to be seen working you. He liked people to see you, with him. You guys dated that long and never even moved in together. Sorry, honey, but you weren’t that serious about him.”

She supposed that was true, too. It hadn’t bothered her, and she’d liked to be seen with him, hadn’t she? Hell, she liked to be seen at all. They’d had a few scenes at home, but they’d never been half as hot as the ones they’d had together at the club. Both of them had gotten off on the exhibitionism, though maybe there’d been a bit of ego involved, on Tony’s part, as Jesse intimated.

“Hmm. All right, I’ll give you those points,” she said as their food arrived. She picked up her spoon and waved it at them both. “But that doesn’t mean you haven’t made friends and that we haven’t missed you while you’ve been off playing with each other and forgetting all about us.”

Jesse slid his arm around her shoulders. “Honey, we could never forget you. Why do you think we came tonight?”

“Hmph,” she mumbled around her bite of creamy goodness. Once she swallowed, she turned to give him a good study.

His hair was somewhere between her blonde and Grant’s brown. She supposed it was the dirty blond that women seemed to hate, but looked great framing his hazel eyes. She’d seen them go from almost green to honey gold, something that fascinated her. He looked fantastic, somehow more healthy and vibrant than she’d ever seen. “Have you been working out?” she asked.

He laughed. “He’s been working me out.He pointed at Grant. “And I’ve been loving every minute of it.”

“Well, love looks good on you. I’m happy for you.”

His arm around her shoulder squeezed for a minute, and he offered her a bite of brownie. She accepted, wrapping her lips around his fork to take in the delicious morsel. Pulling back, she glanced over at Grant. His eyes were on her, them, she wasn’t sure. But his look was pure heat.

A flush ran through her. Here was the nippletingling, skinhopping anticipation she’d been waiting to feel all night. As much as she’d thought she’d been attracted to Trevor, he hadn’t invoked this visceral reaction. She should have paid attention to her body. Of course, Trevor should have paid attention to her body, too.

She frowned at her ice cream before taking another bite. The boys were right. She’d been looking for a man, not just a play partner. She’d found Tony, and it had been good for a while, but they’d had different ideas about their futures and when he’d been offered a transfer to Ohio, neither of them had been too broken up about his decision to take it. Still, because they’d been together for a while, she’d been able to trust him more than her usual hook-ups, and that was a feeling she missed.

And looking for someone outside the club was so annoying. Trying to feel guys out for their willingness to tie a girl down and give a good spanking didn’t usually end well, she’d found. Which left her the club, the same guys most of the time. It was enough to make her think she needed a break.

Maybe she should join one of the online kink sites, see if meeting someone that way, getting to know them through emails before actually doing a scene, might make a difference. Something had to change. Tonight had been partially her fault. She’d gone to the club without really even thinking about if she wanted to. Just gone through the motions of getting ready, getting herself there, and immediately looking for someone to play with.

She dropped her head back against the seat. “Ugh. Tonight really was my fault, at least to start. I was going through the motions, not really even excited to play. Even with the new guy, who I’d been waiting to get my hands on.”

Grant studied her. “In a bit of a slump?” he asked.

“I guess. I hadn’t realized it.”

“Still,” Grant reached out and covered her hand with his. “He should have seen there was a problem, and even if he didn’t, he shouldn’t have disrespected your safe word, or you when you used it. You know that, right?”

She smiled at him. “Yes, I’m not so slumped I don’t know that. That part pissed me off. But now that I’m over being angry, I’m annoyed with myself. I’m young and should be having fun!”

“Being kinky doesn’t mean you get out of the usual ins and outs of dating,” he pointed out.

“But it does mean you should have more fun during all those ins and outs,” Jesse drawled.

They all laughed. Thank god they’d been there tonight, or she would have just gone home and slumped herself right into a fit of depression. Putting her spoon into the bowl and pushing it away, she snuggled into Jesse’s side.

“I’m glad you guys were there. Did you have a good night, before I interrupted?”

“You didn’t interrupt,” Jesse assured her. “We were done. Just going through the main room to see if there was anyone, like you, that we wanted to catch up with.”

“First, though, I put him into the webbing. We can’t do that at home, and I do love seeing my Jesse strung up and helpless.”

The heated look he directed at his lover made her happy and sad at the same time. She really hadn’t understood how much she wanted that, until tonight. Hadn’t realized how tired she was of looking, but not finding, the same thing for herself.

Jesse dipped his head, and murmured low enough that Grant probably couldn’t hear, “Makes you all creamy, doesn’t it? When he looks like that? Talks like that?”

“You are a lucky guy, Jesse Arnold.”

The hand he had draped over her shoulder came up to play with her hair, teasing some of the loose strands. “This is very true.”

“I bet you looked freaking hot up in the web.”

“This is also true,” Jesse drawled.

“What did he do to you?” she asked Jesse, though she was watching Grant.

Jesse gave a sharp tug, then soothed the spot with a little message. She shivered.

“Well, you would know if you hadn’t gotten there so late,” Grant said, eyeing the waiter coming to drop off their check. Stephanie went to reach for her purse, but Jesse restrained her as Grant took the bill.

“Let Grant get it, he loves rescuing damsels in distress and taking care of them.”

She rolled her eyes. “That is so not necessary.”

Grant pulled his wallet out of his back pocket, dropped several bills on the table and stood up. “But you’ll let me do it anyway, because you understand my needs. Come on, let’s walk and I’ll tell you how amazing Jesse looked tonight.”

Well, she couldn’t really argue with that plan. She slid out behind Jesse, and he tucked her into his side. It was cold out, but they had their heavy jackets and didn’t seem to mind strolling through the quiet streets. Grant took her other side, reaching an arm behind her to tuck his hand into the waistband of Jesse’s leather pants. The heat of their arms shouldn’t really have penetrated her heavy coat, but somehow it did. It was a good thing it was winter, keeping her cool. She had to remember that these two were a couple. Unavailable to anything but her occasional fantasies for being sandwiched between two gorgeous men.

She aimed a look up at Grant. “Tell me, tell me.”

He smiled. “I faced him away from me, even though I knew he wanted to watch.”

“I like to watch you working!” Jesse cried.

“Instead he had to watch the people who gathered to admire him.”

“More like admire your handiwork,” Jesse interjected.

Grant took his hand out from under Jesse’s coat, slapped the man’s ass, then returned to tuck into his waistband once again.

“I strapped him to the webbing at his wrists, elbows, upper arms, chest, hips, ankles, calves, thighs. I spent a good long time securing him to that thing.”

“What was he wearing?” she asked.

“A harness to keep him plugged for me. A cock ring. A ball gag and a set of nipple clamps.”

“Mmm. What color was the rope?”

“White, against the black webbing.”

“Nice.”

Picturing it, having seen Jesse naked or mostly so before, she wished she’d gotten to the club earlier. “What did you do then?”

Grant tugged and led them across the street at the crosswalk. Stephanie realized he was making a big square, leading them back to Apex, keeping them in the well-lit, somewhat populated streets. Keeping them safe.

“I spanked his ass until it was glowing for me. He has a great ass, as I’m sure you’ve noticed.”

She murmured her agreement.

“Then I used the slapper. I wanted his whole body slick with sweat and aching with need.”

“Oh, yeah,” Jesse whispered.

“And finished off with a flogger, until he was making one long, begging moan behind that gag.”

She’d stopped walking, so they both turned in slightly and she could see the memory in their faces, just as she could hear the lust in Grant’s voice.

“And then?” She sounded breathy, but she didn’t care. Both of their arms had tightened around her and she felt like she wasn’t just a listener, but an active observer in the scene Grant was describing. Jesse’s breath was warm against her hair, Grant’s energy, his dominating presence, drawing both of them into his sphere, inviting them to be a part of his story, a part of his—

Stephanie blinked, gave a small jerk. Damn, he was a good story-teller. She was going to have some serious fantasy time with these boys once she was alone in bed. She cleared her throat, realized Grant was watching her instead of answering her.

“And then?” she repeated.

“And then I tucked up tight against his back, touching as much hot, slick flesh as I could with my body, and I reached around and took off the cock ring. Jacked him off in front of his audience. They loved what they were seeing. I could hear them watching, waiting, wanting to see him go off.”

“I didn’t hear them,” Jesse said. “They didn’t exist. I only heard you, whispering dirty things in my ear. Only felt your body covering mine, your hand on my dick. You told me to come. And you bit my shoulder.”

“And you came.”

Stephanie pulled in a huge breath. “I need to go home.”

She stepped forward, breaking the intimate circle, and looked for a taxi. Grant put one hand on her back and raised the other, and a cab appeared, as if by magic. Or maybe she wasn’t paying attention because her brain was stuck in a sexual fog. She was totally turned on now, unlike when she’d been mostly naked and bound to a post for Trevor’s attentions. That was a distant memory compared to the one she’d just heard which felt so much more real.

“Let me see your phone,” Grant said, pulling her brain back to the present.

She dug it out of her coat pocket and handed it over.

“I’m texting myself. Use this number when you get home safe, let us know.”

“I do have Jesse’s number already in there,” she pointed out.

“And now you have mine. You can text both of us, if it makes you feel better.”

She tried to argue, but Jesse gave her a kiss on the cheek, Grant a smile full of heat that she assumed meant Jesse would be getting more attention when they got home, and she fumbled herself into the car. She managed to give the driver her address and spent the tenminute drive trying to get herself under control. She mostly succeeded. It only took a few minutes after getting through her front door to send the text, get naked, and climb into bed.
